Town Topics reported last week that three Princeton school students were being treated for the district’s first cases of MRSA, or methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, the antibiotic-resistant form of the more common staph infection: two from Riverside School and one from Princeton High School. As of Monday, no other staph infections had been reported to the Princeton Regional Health Department, according to health officer David Henry: “The school district has done everything it was supposed to do; it has been very responsive and responsible,” he said, adding that the three primary safeguards against the spread of the infection are washing hands, keeping cuts covered, and keeping surfaces clean.
