Princeton resident Michelle DeKlyen, an associate research scholar at the Center for Research on Child Wellbeing in the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, has been named to the Board of Directors of Children’s Futures, Trenton. An expert in the fields of child development, early childhood behavior disorders, and parent-child attachment, she serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology and has been a consulting editor for numerous publications including Child Development, the Journal of Marriage and Family, and The Infant Mental Health Journal. She has also served for the past two years on Newark’s Council on Family Success, a group convened by Mayor Cory Booker to guide Newark in setting priorities and initiating policies and programs to improve the well-being of children and families.

Established in 2001 with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), Children’s Futures works to improve child health and development outcomes.

Princeton resident Kevin Manley, an advertising major at Syracuse University, has been inducted into the University’s “University 100” student group this academic semester. University 100 student volunteers work directly with the Chancellor’s Office and the Office of Admissions and serve as ambassadors of Syracuse University.

Classics Used and Rare Books, the recipient of a 2008-2009 Princeton Area Community Foundation grant for community building, was chosen as business of the year by the Trenton Council of Civic Associations. The downtown bookstore hosts a Scrabble Club, a children’s book club, an urban studies group, a community action study group, a crocheting and knitting club, “Peoples and Stories,” other activities for writers and authors. The Board of Trustees of Hands On Helpers, Inc., the Volunteer Clearinghouse of Mercer County, recently announced the appointment Princeton resident Adrienne Rubin to the position of Executive Director. In announcing her appointment, Board Chair Gil Gordon said, “Adrienne Rubin is the right person at the right time for Hands On Helpers. We are moving into the next phase of our growth and continued service to the cause of volunteerism, and Adrienne brings the skills, energy and wisdom to help us move forward quickly and successfully. We’re very lucky that Adrienne chose to join Hands On Helpers and we are looking forward to all the great things we know she will accomplish.” Ms. Rubin previously served as Associate Director for Class Affairs at Princeton University’s Alumni Association.
