Thanks to Princetons’ Speedy Repairs Most Roads Have Now Been Reopened

All of the area roadways closed by damage from the rain and winds of Hurricane Irene have been reopened with the exception of Quaker Road near Port Mercer. The 450-foot section swamped by water from Stony Brook, eroding the area underneath, is still under repair but is expected to reopen within the next two to three days, according to Princeton Township Engineer Robert Kiser.

Several key roads in the Borough and Township were closed due to fallen trees, downed power lines, and flooding. Drivers were diverted from Harrison Street at the D&R Canal, Route 206 south of Princeton from Hutchinson Drive to Lovers Lane, and north of Princeton from Ewing Street to Herrontown Road. Faculty Road, Princeton Pike, and Rosedale Road also experienced temporary closures.

“Mercer County and the Township Public Works worked very hard and we are very appreciative of all their efforts in re-opening Rosedale Road and Princeton Pike at Stony Brook,” said Mr. Kiser.
