The Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) will sponsor a talk by Lawrence Wittner, Professor of History Emeritus at the State University of New York, Albany, on “How Peace Activists Saved the World from Nuclear War” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12 at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street. A potluck dinner starting at 6 p.m. will precede the talk. Both the potluck dinner and the talk will be in the George Thomas Room of Trinity Church. Enter the door closest to Nassau Street and go straight back past the kitchen. The presentation is free and open to the public. Those attending the dinner are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Drinks will be provided. Mr. Wittner has written numerous books and articles on the world nuclear disarmament movement, including the award-winning The Struggle Against the Bomb. His most recent book, Confronting the Bomb: A Short History of the World Nuclear Disarmament Movement, will be on sale at the potluck and talk. “We are delighted to be hosting this most informed scholar on the history of the world nuclear disarmament movement,” said the Rev. Eddie Glaude, Jr. and Greg Carr will take “an in-depth look at African American Studies and the role of historic black colleges” in a conversation sponsored by Princeton University’s Center for African American Studies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, in McCormack Hall 101. Mr. Glaude is the William S. Tod Professor of Religion and African American Studies in the University’s Department of Religion, and Chair, Center for African American Studies. Mr. Carr is Associate Professor and Chair of Afro-American Studies at Howard University.
