Freshman Ford, a former Hun School star and Montgomery resident, used his bat and arm to help Princeton sweep doubleheaders against visiting Brown and Yale to open Ivy League play. Ford had five hits on the weekend and picked up a complete game win on the mound against Yale. He was later named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for his performance.
