A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues
The University is a citizen of the community just as we are. I would look at their financial contribution in terms of the services that we provide them. I do not believe that the size of their portfolio is the basis for asking them to contribute more. Additionally, they give back a lot by stimulating local business. James Floyd, Princeton |
I think that the University should help out more, if not by direct financial contributions, by promoting activities that will bring more business into the town. Giancarlo Squitieri, Princeton |
I believe the University contributes quite a bit to the community at large, if not by paying taxes, but other means. For example, I have known a number of students who have benefited from the abatement of student loans. Overall, I believe that we obtain a substantial benefit from the University. Im a Princeton grad. I know what the University has done for me and for this country. If their non-tax status means that they can provide more educational benefits, then I would be opposed to taxation. Kevin Williams with Ella, Princeton |
The University is a huge draw to Princeton, bringing in people from all over the world. Overall, I think that what they bring in as local spending exceeds what they take away by not paying taxes and making a voluntary contribution. Kevin McCormick with Connor, Princeton |
