Mercer County will unveil a new Wellness Discount and New Jersey Drug Card program on Thursday, August 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hamilton Township Senior Center. Whether or not they already have health insurance, any county resident may obtain a free card that can be used for discounts on a variety of medical products and services, offering savings of 10 to 50 percent on eye care, hearing aids, prescription drugs and other items. The program is not medical insurance, but offers discounts for services or medications that may not be covered under a person’s regular insurance or Medicare. There are no restrictions, no income requirements, no age limit and no applications to fill out.
Registration for the 2010 Mercer County fall Tennis Lesson Program will be offered online only starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at https://register.communitypass.net/mercer. Lessons will run from September through December for all ages and levels of play at the new indoor Tennis Center at Mercer County Park, a fully heated facility and featuring six courts. Players who do not have their own racket, balls, or equipment can borrow equipment from the county for the lessons. The Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010 Act (H.R. 5900) which President Obama signed into law last week incorporates key provisions from legislation introduced by Rep. Rush Holt (D-12) in an effort “to correct serious safety deficiencies in the Federal Aviation Administration’s oversight of regional air carriers.” These inconsistencies were exposed by the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation of the crash of Continental flight 3407 near Buffalo, New York. Several New Jersey residents — including Ron Gonzalez of North Brunswick, Lorin Maurer of Princeton, and Coleman Mellett of East Brunswick — were victims of the crash.
