Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“What did you think of President Obama’s speech and his plans to send more troops to Afghanistan?”

“His plans are well thought out; he can’t compromise in this situation. He’s getting pressure from both sides. He doesn’t have a choice. It’s an okay compromise; he can’t go all the way in either direction. I hope it works out.”

Michael Hansen, Princeton

“I’m not in favor of sending troops, but if it entails the security of the country we have no choice but to send more troops.”

Veena Khanna, Princeton Junction

“The second part of his speech contradicts the sending of the troops in the first place, as he’s setting a deadline to withdrawal the troops. If they have a one-year plan or a ten-year plan, the enemy is not waiting.”

Bill Manza, Metuchen

“I did not hear his speech. I don’t think we need to send more troops to Afghanistan. We have enough troops there and I’m concerned about the welfare of our military personnel.”

Caryn Gainsberg, Princeton

“I think it’s a mistake to send more troops.”

Thaine Shetter, Kingston
