A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week: "What are your views on the steroid controversy and what changes do you think should result?

"I think that anabolic steroids have done great things for baseball and other sports, and do not think that they should be banned. I¹m all for them."

– Paul Stanton, Hodge Road

"I think they are a black mark on baseball and American sports in general. The thing that we value so much is integrity for athletes, and taking steroids is disgraceful. There is not justification for it. This is also a product of society today – always trying to get ahead of someone else. I praise Senator McCain, and think that if the leagues and the owners cannot do something to stop it, the government should."

– David Blitzer, Rollinghill Road

"Steroid use in sports is a violation of the ethics of the game. Every sport – football, baseball, basketball –needs a uniform, comprehensive and tough policy to combat this kind of advantage that one player may have over another."

– Justin Crowe, Lawrence Drive

"I think that the use of steroids by professional athletes is a terrible thing, because they are role models for our children, and they need to realize that. So, all professional sports must do drug testing to make sure that players are not taking them."

– Eleanor DiLello, Princeton University

"I am not at all surprised about the continuing revelations about this – and I think that they should do as they can to combat it – but I think that the athletes will manage to stay one step ahead."

– Daisy Fried, Lawrence Drive
