Douglas Fountain Bushnell, 87, of Hopewell, died December 16, peacefully at home.
Born in Browntown, N.J., he graduated from Rutgers College, and served in a bomb disposal unit in the Navy in World War II.
He worked for many years for the American Express Company.
He married Margaret Meeker in 1946. After her death in 1970, he married Betty Wold Johnson in 1978.
Life for Mr. Bushnell was a great adventure; he enjoyed everything he did. He will be remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness. Equally at home on his tractor or the dance floor, he was a consummate gentleman.
In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by two sons, David and Michael; a daughter, Rebecca; his stepchildren Robert, Elizabeth, and Christopher Johnson; and 17 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Princeton University Chapel on Thursday, December 27 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SAVE Princeton Small Animal Rescue League, 900 Herrontown Road, Princeton 08540; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home.
Eileen A. Katz, 73, of Lawrenceville, died December 8 in the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in New York City, she was a former resident of Ewing Township and a longtime resident of Princeton.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Vassar College in 1954, spending her junior year at the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree from Rutgers University. She was employed at Rutgers as a teacher of English as a second language.
Mrs. Katz was an avid naturalist and bird watcher. She planned programs, led bird walks for area clubs, and was a board member of the Trenton Naturalist Club, the Washington Crossing Audubon Society, and the Princeton Shade Tree Commission. She spearheaded the efforts to preserve wildlife habitat at the “Pole Farm” (now Mercer County Park Northwest).
Daughter of the late David Wolf and Anna Jabloner Wolf, she is survived by four daughters, Jane Katz-Christy of Cambridge, Mass., Carol Katz Connelly of Lawrenceville, Mandy Katz of Bethesda, Md., and Julia Katz Schonfeld of New York City; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Temple Micah, located at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville. Burial followed in Lawrenceville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation or the Lawrence Nature Center.
Funeral arrangements were by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing Township.
Winifred Gregson Rudicil, age 90, of Monroe Township died Sunday, December 16, 2007, at her home. Born in Worcester, Mass., Mrs. Rudicil lived in Rhode Island and Morristown, Tenn. for 36 years before moving to the Monroe Village community in Monroe Township in 2001. She was a congregant of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Morristown, Tenn. Mrs. Rudicil was a past member of the Morristown Country Club and the Gloucester Country Club, Gloucester, R.I. as well as a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She is predeceased by her husband Rowland K. Rudicil in 1990 and a brother Raymond Gregson. Surviving are her two daughters Janice Noonan and her husband Vincent of Princeton, N.J. and Susan Parhiala and her husband Paul of Fremont, Calif., a stepson Philip Rudicil and his wife Deborah of Exeter, R.I., a stepdaughter Nancy Rudicil of East Greenwhich, R.I., a sister Eleanor Frick of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., a brother Ronald Gregson of Mill River, Mass., five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held.
