U.S. Amateur Team East

Chad Lieberman

Every year chess players up and down the eastern seaboard anxiously await this fantastic tournament. The U.S. Amateur Team East provides an opportunity to get together with friends and play chess in a fun, yet still competitive atmosphere.

The action will begin on Valentine's Day and carry through February 16th at the tournament's usual location, the Hilton in Parsippany, New Jersey.

A six-round Swiss system tournament, the Amateur Team East pits teams of four players against one another in competition for prizes including digital clocks, engraved pens, plaques, and above all, recognition.

Your team could even win a dinner for four if you are best dressed on theme night. So don't forget your scally caps and tube socks because this year's theme is "Celebrate the 1980s."

This is one time during the year when instead of playing against your best friends, you are able to play with them on the same team. The U.S. Amateur Team East is sure to please.

So get your team together and head over to the Parsippany Hilton for great chess and a good time. Good Luck! (Please find details for the event online at www.uschess.org.)
