The Princeton Macintosh Users Group will meet on Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. at Princeton University's Jadwin Physics Building. The meeting topic will be "Digital Photography from A to Z."

Three PMUG members will speak. Joseph Beim will cover photography in and out of the darkroom in the pre-digital age. Doug Dixon will demonstrate how to organize and enhance photos on a Mac using Apple's iPhoto 4, and how to use Adobe Photoshop. David Verdini will discuss options for dealing with raw file formats and white balance issues commonly found in photos. PMUG is a club for Macintosh computer enthusiasts of all ages. Members share their interests, talents, and skills in the Macintosh environment so that others may benefit. Meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of each month. The New Mom's Group has scheduled two eight-week sessions on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The first session will meet on February 6 through 27 and March 5 through 26; the second, on April 2 through 30 and May 7 through 21. The Group is for mothers of babies three weeks to six months old.

The group is sponsored by the Jewish Family & Children's Service of Greater Mercer County and is facilitated by Judie Trachtenberg, M.A., a child development specialist, parent and grandparent. The meetings, which are free, will be held at The Jewish Center of Princeton, 435 Nassau Street.

The Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton will meet at 8 p.m. on February 10 at Peyton Hall on Ivy Lane. The guest speaker, Dr. Dale E. Gary, professor of physics at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, will discuss "Turning Into The Sun; New Developments In Solar Radio Science."

The Jersey Jumpers' monthly dance on Friday, February 13 will begin at 7:30 p.m. with instructors Greg Avakian and Laurie Zimmerman teaching beginner lindy-hop swing. An open dance will follow from 8:15 to 11:15 p.m. with recorded music from the big band though rock-'n'-roll eras.

The dance will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, at 50 Cherry Hill Road. No dance partner is required; beginners are encouraged to attend.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students, and includes lessons, open dancing, and snacks. For more information, call (609) 683-9798.


Princeton Singles has scheduled a breakfast meeting and canal walk in February.

The club will host a breakfast meeting on Friday, February 13, at 9 a.m., at Friendly's Restaurant on Route 206 in Montgomery. Admission is the cost of the meal. For reservations, call (908) 874-4265.

An hour-long canal walk, followed by lunch, is planned for Saturday, February 21. Participants will meet in the parking lot at the Winepress Restaurant in Kingston at 10 a.m. For reservations, call (609) 896-1170.
