GINGERBREAD INGENUITY: The five houses that participated in the “Hansel & Gretel Gingerbread Cottage Challenge” last weekend were not subjected to revaluation, but to the scrutiny of young and old observers who passed by the Labyrinth Books display last weekend. The winning house, created by Bent Spoon staffer Jen Travagline, was described by Cotsen Library Education and Outreach Coordinator Dana Sheridan as “gingerbread bling.” Other submissions were from Jen’s Cakes and Pastries, The Little Chef, Chez Alice, and Thomas Sweet Chocolates. Though they looked — and smelled — like sugar heaven, the cakes were not edible. |
Executive Director of the Princeton Public Library Leslie Burger reported on the state of the institution in 2010, calling it a “really wonderful year.”
“The original timeline is not shot yet, but we’re getting closer and closer to that point,” said new Recreation Department Executive Director Ben Stentz in the wake of last week’s meeting about pool developments.
To celebrate Leonard L. Milberg’s recent donation of an Irish prose collection containing over 1,700 books, manuscripts, portraits, audio visual materials and other items that illustrate the richness and vitality of Irish writing from 1798 to the present, Princeton University has planned an exhibition that will open on Friday, January 28, and a symposium on Saturday and Sunday, February 5-6, titled “The Cracked Lookingglass: Highlights from the Leonard L. Milberg Collection of Irish Prose Writers.”
The exhibition, which runs through July 10, will be on view in the main gallery and in the Milberg Gallery at Firestone Library.
