Noting that it would have been easy to say “change the vending machines” in response to demands for a healthier environment, Princeton Regional Schools (PRS) Superintendent Judy Wilson lauded the opening of the new Princeton High School (PHS) Fitness Center at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday as the community’s answer to the question, “What does fitness mean?”
The Princeton Public Library (PPL) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the Princeton Heartland Payment System’s “one card” plan for Princeton at a meeting on Thursday. A similar plan to support a partnership between Heartland and the Princeton Education Foundation had been unanimously passed earlier in the week at the Tuesday meeting of the Princeton Regional School Board of Education.
Borough Hall handed out pay increases to the Princeton Borough Police Departments top administrative law enforcers last week, and, at least for now, concerns over precipitous police pay increases will likely wait until the next union contract discussion, three years out.
The proposed Nassau Inn expansion is just the tip of the iceberg.
Several major developments are primed to break ground in downtown Princeton this year, and municipal officials are calling on Borough government to start thinking creatively about parking, and lots of it.
“For some, banquet means lots of food. But for many, the only meal served is hunger. Feast or famine — it’s the luck of the draw.” Taking to heart this dire advisory from Oxfam of America at lunch last Thursday, high school students at the Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart actually drew cards that assigned them to different economic levels, and proceeded to eat accordingly.
