Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“Do you think New Jersey should follow New York’s lead and legalize same-sex marriage?”

“I believe that New Jersey should legalize same-sex marriages, because I know many people who are in stable same-sex relationships.”

— Marti Davis, Hopewell

“I think New Jersey should follow New York’s lead, since the Constitution did not state t“life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” was only meant for straight people. Because marriage is a religious ritual, the rights for gays to marry really depend upon whether their religion allows”

— Steve Nathan, Princeton

“No, I do not think same-sex marriages should be legalized in New Jersey. There should not be any preference at all. A civil ceremony is one thing but a religious ceremony is something different.”

— George Kirby, Cranbury

“I believe same-sex marriage should be legal.”

— John Matese, Princeton

“I think everybody should have the right to be married regardless of their sexual orientation.”

— Paul Decker, Princeton

“I have no problem with same-sex marriages. I have been to the gay pride parade. New York is just so open and it is no big deal. Hopefully, New Jersey will become desensitized and legalize same-sex marriages.”

— Kristen Shlossberg, lives in Princeton and New York City
