Luigi Porcaro

Luigi Porcaro, 82, of Princeton, died suddenly Monday, July 16, at his home while tending to his garden.

Born in San Giovanni, Cippaloni Benevento, Italy, he had been a resident of Princeton since 1958. Prior to coming to the United States he served as a Carabiniere for 12 years.

He had been employed at Van Nostrand and Company in Princeton. Later he was employed at Princeton Pool and Patio Company, retiring in 1989.

Besides being an avid gardener, he enjoyed playing cards with his friends and working on both his Princeton home and his shore home. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He especially loved the time spent with his dog Sonny.

The son of the late Erminia and Vito Porcaro,and the oldest of seven siblings, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Francesca, his daughter Erminia "Mimi" of Lawrenceville, and his son Vito of Princeton.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at St Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau Street, Princeton. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kimble Funeral Home at 1 Hamilton Avenue in Princeton Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m.
