Pamela Vevers Sherin, 80, of Skillman, died May 24 peacefully at her home in Stonebridge at Montgomery, surrounded by her family.
She was born in London, England, where her father, Geoffrey, a zoologist, was director of the London Zoo and Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire. In 1940, she and her brother Tony were evacuated to the United States to escape the bombing of Great Britain by the Nazis during World War II.
After the war, she remained in the U.S. and attended Mount Holyoke College, where she majored in English. Noted for her acting and her command of the English language, she landed leading roles in Shakespearean plays produced at the school. After college she returned to London, where she attended the Central School for Speech and Drama. Later, in the U.S., she was in the acting company of the Orleans Arena Theater on Cape Cod, Mass., and was part of the Paul Mann Actor’s Workshop in New York City.
She was always connected to the art world in one way or another. Early in her career she worked in advertising at Helena Rubinstein in New York City, was the studio assistant for fashion photographer Ben Somoroff, and was the purchaser of objets d’art for Karl Mann’s Manhattan store. She later became director of the Hunterdon Arts Center in New Jersey, and ran the home furnishings section at Iris, a Princeton specialty shop. In the 1980s, she joined McCarter Theatre as Development Director, a position she occupied until being hired as Corporate Curator, Cultural and Community Relations Director at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Lawrenceville, where she worked until her retirement.
Her interests were varied, with particular passions for knitting and gourmet cooking. She seldom missed airings of Jeopardy or Masterpiece Theatre, and friends considered her a resource for anything related to the New York Yankees and professional tennis.
Predeceased by a brother, Tony, and son, Geoffrey, she is survived by her sons Anthony of New York City and Jonathan of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for early summer, at a date to be announced.
Robert W. Hansen, 63, of South Amboy, died May 31 in the Briarwood Care Center, South Amboy.
Born in Jersey City, he grew up in Bergenfield, before moving to Lynchburg, Va., and later back to Jackson.
Mr. Hansen was an automotive repair instructor with E.A.S.T. in Burlington. He was an avid NHRA dragster racer in the 1970s and partner of the Hansen/Horner Racing Team.
Son of the late Francis and Margaret (Smith) Hansen, he is survived by a son, Joseph Hansen of Cream Ridge; a daughter, Theresa A. Hansen of Princeton; a brother, Frank Hansen of Bergenfield; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held today, June 9 at 11 a.m. at the Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street.

Hannah T. Respass, 90, of Princeton, died June 1 at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Unit at Morris Hall in Lawrenceville.
Born in Philadelphia, she resided most of her life in New Jersey.
She retired in 1991 as a customer service representative with Bonwit Teller Department Store in Philadelphia after more than 30 years of service.
Wife of the late Johnny T. Respass, she is survived by two sons, John Respass and Robert Respass; her sisters Dorothy Gramlich, Peggy Conroy, and Theresa Jankaukas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 4 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Morris Hall, Lawrenceville. Entombment was in St. Catherine’s Mausoleum in Spring Lake, N.J.

Arthur W. Barclay, 69, of Princeton, died May 28 in Princeton.
Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong resident.
A graduate of Princeton High School, he attended cosmetology school and became a master barber.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 218, Witherspoon Lodge No. 178, Moorish Science Temple, and American Legion Color Guard, and a past State president of the Elks of America.
The son of the late George Barclay and brother of the late Alice Barclay, he is survived by his mother, Mamie Barclay; his wife, Clarise Barclay; a son, David Barclay; a daughter, Antonia Barclay-Bonds, four grandchildren; and a longtime companion, Debbie Disher.
The funeral service was June 8 at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church in Princeton with the Rev. Ray Hammond officiating. Interment was in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
