Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“How do you think the oil spill has been handled by BP and the Obama administration?”

“I think that they could have handled it better. BP and Trans Ocean (the owner of the oil rig) did not do a great job with their regulations and safety measures. The response could have been faster and clean up could be handled with more speed than it has been; the oil is coming up to the Atlantic Ocean.”

Jamie Peretzman, Princeton

“The U.S. government did not take quick enough action and BP was way behind the ball with back up plans that had been tested. I think that the American people should get together and file a class action suit. They have ruined the beaches; they have ruined America.” — Lee Eric Newton, Princeton

“It’s a tragic situation. I think that they’re doing everything they can do to stop it. It’s about what they’re doing now and about what they were doing before this crisis and learning from the situation and not repeating these mistakes.”

Susan, Jensen, Glen, and Griffin Tinevez, Princeton

“I feel that Obama and BP oil should be taking care of it. I feel like they’re not doing much about saving the wildlife. The oil is really bad and the animals are going to die. They need to take care of it fast.”

Olivia D’Adamo and Alexandra Patel, Princeton

I don’t think it’s been handled well by either. I think more drastic measures should have been taken from the beginning and that the Obama administration should have taken stronger actions against BP operations, or threaten to do so now, with more options and faster actions.”

Bryce Tembarge, Pennington

“It’s really bad. It’s a shame. And nobody can seem to stop the oil from spreading. I feel sorry for all the animals that are dying and the beaches are being ruined. You can’t blame the president.”

Gloria Perez, Princeton
