Walter Greenwood Barlow, 91, of Pennington, died June 10 in Princeton.
Born in Liverpool, England, he had been a resident of Pennington and Princeton for over 60 years.
He graduated from Cornell University in 1939 and served with the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946 in the European Theater, receiving a Bronze Star for his service.
He was a career public opinion analyst and consultant to business management on the use of attitude and opinion research, working for various companies in the field. In 1966 he founded and became president of Research Strategies Corporation in Princeton.
Over the years he gave many volunteer hours to a variety of organizations. He had 6 years’ service on the Advisory Council of the Electric Power Research Institute. He was a member of the board of Family Services Association of America and was a past national president of the organization. He was involved for many years on boards of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. and was a past president and director of A.D. Publications, Inc.
He served from 1966 to 1980 on the Board of Public Welfare of the State of New Jersey, for the last five years as vice chairman. He was a volunteer research counselor to Cornell University and for seven years was a member of the board of trustees. He served as a Commissioner of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Higher Education, was a Senior Fellow of the Omega Group, and a member of The Seminar and the Page Society.
Mr. Barlow was also past president and a board member of Crawford House, a group of facilities treating women suffering chemical, particularly alcohol-related, addictions. He also completed six years on the board of trustees of The Rumsey Hall School.
He was a member of the Pennington Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a trustee.
Husband of the late Hanna Hansen Barlow and father of the late Eric Barlow, he is survived by three daughters, Francine Bryant of Skillman, Deborah Rockey of Hopewell, and Alison Loats of Skillman; a sister, Joan Van Note of Chicago; and five grandchildren.
The funeral service was yesterday in the Pennington Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nancy Mikoski, pastor, officiating. Interment in Pennington Cemetery followed.

Paul R. Clarkson, 74, of Princeton, died June 11 at Merwick Care Center in Princeton.
Born in New York City, he lived in Princeton for 37 years.
Mr. Clarkson graduated from St. Joseph’s Prep High School in Philadelphia in 1953. His undergraduate studies were at Villanova University, where he graduated in 1957 with a major in English. He received his Master’s Degree in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1961.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a PFC after serving from 1958 to 1960 in Germany, and from 1962 to 1963 stateside.
He began his career as an English professor at Seton Hall University before shifting to the field of business. He worked for seven corporations and was a corporate vice president at American General Insurance Corporation before his 1998 retirement.
He enjoyed family and friends, especially playing with his grandchildren. He was a volunteer for the Princeton Healthcare Ministry. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering for and following the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Notre Dame football, and Villanova basketball teams. He also enjoyed reading, writing, and traveling, especially to Europe where his interest in World War II history often led him. He enjoyed photography, playing golf, and gardening.
He was predeceased by his wife, Monica Czarzasty Clarkson, in 1997, and a brother, Michael Clarkson. He is survived by a daughter, Margaret Clarkson of Hoboken; a son, John Clarkson of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Ted Clarkson of Virginia; and three grandchildren.
The funeral service was June 15 at the Kimble Funeral Home, followed by a funeral mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick Township.
