Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“Are you happy about the Health Care Reform Bill passing and why?”

“We didn’t get single payer option, but I’m glad that finally somewhat meaningful healthcare has been passed after so many attempts to get more coverage for more people. There are good and bad things involved. I still think one bad thing is the insurance companies are reaping huge profits greater than ever.”

Rita Rofé, Princeton

“I’m very happy it’s finally passed. I wish it hadn’t been so partisan. It would have helped a lot to have the Republicans more involved. It could have helped the country a lot, instead of it being so divided. It’s the beginning of a larger process. First step in right direction; we have a lot to learn from European countries.”

Zachary Schaffner with Lauren Wilkins, New Brunswick

“I’m pleased it passed. Just as everyone has the right to public supported education, they also should have access to affordable healthcare.”

Karen Fuchs with Pepi, Princeton

“I’m a big Obama supporter, and so excited that everyone has been getting together to get this done. I’m a grad student; it’s going to be helpful to have this extra option. I know that there are a lot of people that are poor and this is another option for them.”

Cara Young, Princeton

“I’m somewhat reserved but happy about it because I think in the long run it will probably benefit the population at large. I’m reserved because, I’m not sure about all the deals that were made to this point.”

Arnie Chinich, Montgomery
