Coming into the first-ever Ivy League men’s lacrosse tournament last weekend at Cornell, Princeton was determined to overcome its recent penchant for getting off to slow starts.
Princeton achieved that goal with aplomb in its semifinal matchup against Yale on Friday evening, jumping out to a 7-2 lead through three quarters.
But reversing form and faltering down the stretch, the Tigers gave up four straight goals and had to hold on for dear life in prevailing 7-6.
It looked like Megan Bradley could be in over her head when she was named head coach of the Princeton University women’s tennis team last summer.
Just 26 years old when she was hired, Bradley, a former tennis great at the University of Miami, had a coaching resume that consisted of a few months as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater.
Bradley felt the heat in taking over the Princeton program after Kathy Sell stepped down.

Having finished second in last year’s Mercer County Tournament, Princeton High junior golf star Fraser Graham was confident as he teed off last Wednesday at this year’s county competition at Mountain View.
“I played pretty well last year; I had a good day putting,” said Graham. “I definitely felt I was a contender; I am more ready to play this year.”
Graham’s confidence was boosted by his win earlier this spring in the Garden State Cup at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Cologne. “That was the first time I had won something like that,” said Graham, who shot 3-over 75 win that competition. “I have been working hard on my game; it was good to see it pay off.”
As Hun School senior pitcher Mike Ford warmed up last Saturday before taking the mound against visiting Mercersburg Academy in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) championship game, he got the sense that things were going to go well.
“Even in my bullpen today, I knew I was feeling it,” recalled Ford. “You get that extra adrenaline and that does help it out. I could just tell that I was going to be on today.”
Ford was on Saturday, mowing down the first 12 hitters that he faced, striking out eight of them. In the top of the fifth inning, Ford surrendered an infield hit on a close call at first base and walked the next batter and that was it as no other Mercersburg player reached base the rest of the day.
