DOWN ON THE BOARDWALK: The Friends of Princeton Open Space, working with Princeton Township's Public Works and Engineering departments, celebrated the opening of a boardwalk May 20 that extends over a stretch of wetlands on Coventry Farm. The boardwalk creates a handful of linkages to other trails and pathways.

Princeton Township in the last year achieved its goal of becoming 25 percent preserved — an assured triumph for conservationists and outdoors people throughout the region. But a recent grant given to the Friends of Princeton Open Space has all but guaranteed that those preserved lands are now better linked and more accessible for those curious to see where their open space taxes go.

Borough Approves $24M Municipal Budget, Looking to Favor Surplus Over More Cuts

Borough Hall last Tuesday favored an increase in the municipal surplus over further cuts to the tax levy, as Council, by a 5 to 1 margin, voted to approve its $24.19 million budget.

The vote assured a four-cent, five percent overall increase, though that number was down from initial five-and-a-half-cent increase first outlined at the beginning of the budget cycle earlier this year.

Potts Playground, a pocket park at the corner of Erdman Avenue and Tee-Ar Place in Princeton Borough, will undergo a revitalization effort this summer, thanks to a county grant that will go toward financing the project and funding other parks projects in the region.
