The Spirit of Princeton Committee welcomes the community to honor the nations veterans as well as those young men and women still actively serving in the military by attending the 11 a.m. Veterans Day ceremony on Thursday, November 11 at the All Wars Monument (intersection of Mercer and Nassau Streets). The program will feature the Princeton community youth, municipal leaders, and the areas active and retired military personnel. Speakers will include Princeton Borough Mayor Mildred Trotman, Princeton Township Mayor Bernie Miller, USMC Veteran Bill Johnson (also the former John Witherspoon Middle School Principal), and Princeton High School Athletic Director John Miranda. The wreath will be placed at the memorial by Spirit of Princeton co-founder and former Princeton Borough Councilman Ray Wadsworth and fifth grade students from Princetons Riverside Elementary School. The Princeton Public Library Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 16, at 5:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room.
Standard & Poors (S&P), a Wall Street bond rating agency, recently announced that they have reaffirmed Princeton Townships AAA bond rating, with a stable outlook. The AAA bond rating is the highest bond rating a governmental entity can achieve, and enables the municipality to borrow funds at a lower interest rate, saving taxpayers thousands of dollars. Mayor Bernie Miller said that Princeton Township is one of a select group of municipalities nationwide to have achieved this rating.
The Public Ice Skating Center located in Mercer County park in West Windsor will open for the season on Saturday, November 13, and remain open to the public seven days a week through mid-March. The Skating Center has a full snack bar, a fireplace and lounge area, dining tables, vending machines, skate rentals, a skate sharpening service and lockers.
