Borough and Township offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Yes We CAN! Food Drives will hold its last food drive of the year on Saturday, December 4, at Princeton McCaffrey’s. Shoppers will be asked to donate boxed or canned food and/or fresh produce for distribution at the food pantries operated by the Crisis Ministry in Princeton and Trenton. Over 3,000 individuals a month, including 1,000 children, use the pantries as a main source of food. To volunteer or learn more about Yes We CAN!, log onto www.yeswecanfooddrives.org.

A special Holiday Farmers Market on Thursday, December 9 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. inside the Community Room of the Princeton Public Library, will include crafters and artists selling their creations. The Princeton Farmers Market will continue in the Community Room from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every second Thursday of the month (January 13, February 10, March 10, and April 14). The Special Education PTO will meet on Thursday, December 2, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the library of John Witherspoon Middle School. The featured speaker will be Elizabeth Casparian, Executive Director of Hi-Tops Adolescent Health and Education Center in Princeton. Ms. Casparian will be discussing “The Elephant in the Room — Sexual Health and Disabilities.” The Special Education PTO seeks to enhance the education of all students district-wide through the collaborative efforts of parents, staff, child study teams, and administration. All families with classified students are automatically members of this dues-free organization, which runs a series of programs during the school year covering broad topics of general interest to its members. It also serves as an informal and discreet network for parents seeking information, recognizing and respecting privacy, and individual needs. The Mercer County Park Commission will close Baldpate Mountain to all visitors on select days due to the annual deer management project, including November 20; December 1 through 3, 8 through 11, 15 through 18, 22 through 24,and 29 through 31; January 1, 5 through 8, 12 through 15, 19 through 22, and 26 through 29; and February 2 through 5 and 9 through 12, 2011. Exact project dates will also be posted on the various gates leading into the area. Unauthorized persons entering the area on the above dates are warned that they “not only put themselves at extreme risk, but will also be cited.” For further information call the Mercer County Park Commission at (609) 989-6559.
