Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“How has Facebook affected your life?” (Asked in front of Garden Theater Sunday afternoon as Social Network was letting out.)

“I spend less time in person hanging out with my friends and more time learning about my friends’ random activities on Facebook.”

Harris Peralman, Princeton

“A new outlet for procrastination — I spend a lot of time browsing and jumping from page to page, and before I know it I’ve spent an hour online.”

Ming Lu, Princeton

“Mostly it’s a distraction. I use it mostly to keep in touch with people whose phone numbers or email addresses I don’t have. I try to only go on Facebook on weekends unless it’s an emergency.”

Brandon Bark, Princeton

“I first joined Facebook when I was in college. It was helpful. If I met a person randomly, it was easy to stay in touch with them on the internet all the time. You accumulate acquaintances much quicker with Facebook.”

T.J. Feury, Princeton

“I am on Facebook, but I don’t go to the site that often; it hasn’t really affected my life.”

Jill Morganstern, Princeton

Joey: “I am able to really keep in touch with my friends and am able to get to know a lot more about them through Facebook. I also really like to upload music. Facebook is really cool”. Aaron: “Basically, it’s made the world smaller; you can keep in touch with friends thousands of miles away. You can interact at times like the middle of the night when you would not always be in touch.”
