To the Editor:
We thank everybody who donated the record number of books to the Friends of the Princeton Public Library Annual Book Sale. We thank the record number of shoppers who bought those books, resulting in a record income for the sale. We thank the Bank of Princeton, the sale’s first sponsor. We are pleased to say that all profits from the sale go to the Princeton Public Library to buy books for everybody to read.
We look forward to seeing all of you at the 2009 Annual Sale. In the meantime, shop at our daily Ongoing Book Sale, good books at good prices, located to the right of the staircase on the library’s main floor.

To the Editor:
It’s not news that significant toll hikes planned on the New Jersey Turnpike will encourage ever more truckers to pocket the toll money and connect from I-95 in Lawrenceville to I-287 in Somerville via Route 206. It is curious, however, that only three public hearings are scheduled this go-round, and that Gov. Jon Corzine doesn’t plan to attend them. Maybe Department of Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri hopes that Princeton will simply concede and accept being part of the network of trucks-allowed roads and absorb the expected jump in local traffic volume.
Adding to my enthusiasm is a curious pair of events in Hillsborough: an effort to move the country’s largest supply of mercury to a depot in Nevada so that a large truck depot can be installed along Route 206 there, and a Route 206 bypass planned around their downtown.
Let’s thank these gentlemen for the opportunity to become more intimate with 18-wheelers by adding a second, commemorative name to State Road — Kolluri Highway — and a second, commemorative name to Bayard Lane and Stockton Street, Corzine Concourse. Years from now, everyone will remember who allowed Princeton to be changed from a special place to just another place.
