Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) issued the following statement on Tuesday in response to the New Jersey Superior Court’s failure to release the report of computer security experts describing what they found in their analysis of two of the voting machines of the type used in 18 of New Jersey’s 21 counties: “It is regrettable that the report, due by court order to be released on Thursday, has been suppressed at the request of the voting system vendor. Clearly, if the report vindicated the equipment, the vendor would be eager for it to be released. The Court’s decision is very troubling, as it leaves voters with virtually no choice but to conclude that there is something wrong with the machines, that the vendor does not want us to know what it is, and that the court is allowing it to be kept secret.“

The Princeton Borough Council debate between candidate Dudley Sipprelle and incumbent Kevin Wilkes, will be broadcast live on Wednesday, October 8, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Princeton Community Television, (Comcast, channel 30; Verizon Fios, channel 45). Esther Mills, host of Talk 2 Me, will be the moderator.

Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello has alerted residents to targeted phone calls that are being made throughout New Jersey from a company stating that they are “working with the County Clerk’s Office” to help homeowners renegotiate the terms of their mortgages. “The County does not work with any specific company in this regard and we do not endorse the services of private financial entities, especially those soliciting via telephone,” said Ms. Covello. She suggested that those in financial distress call local community service groups such as the Consumer Credit Counseling of Central N.J. at (609) 586-2574, or a recently established national hotline for Foreclosure Help at (888) 995-4673. Each provides free advice and counseling on foreclosures.

The Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) is organizing a Rally to Put a Stop Payment on the Blank Check Authorization of the Iraq War from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 10, on the State House Steps, 125 W. State Street in Trenton, N.J. Car-pooling from Princeton will leave the Princeton Shopping Center (Rite Aid end) at 11:15 a.m.
