William Beresford Hewson Jr., 76, formerly of Princeton, died September 29 in Naples, Fla.
He was the eldest son of the late William B. Hewson and the late Elizabeth Starkey Cook, as well as his step-mother, the late Barbara S. Hewson, all residents of the Princeton area.
Born in Red Bank, he grew up in East Williston, N.Y. and was a graduate of the Kent School and Princeton University.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the years of 1955-56. He enjoyed a career in advertising at the agencies of Benton & Bowles and Cunningham & Walsh in New York, and was a Marketing Director for National Distillers, Inc. He was also a member of the Princeton Club of New York. He was a past resident of Princeton, Darien, Conn., and New York City.
His loves of music, art, science fiction, animals, the beach, and New York team sports will be cherished memories for his extended family and friends.
Predeceased by his brother, Ross, he is survived by his wife, Helshi Lockwood Hewson; his children, Bill, Andy, Liz, Bert, Tory, and Charlie; 10 grandchildren; and his siblings, Austin, Sam, Bonnie, and Jane.
A service of memorial and thanksgiving will be held on December 17, 2011 at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien, Conn.
Donations may be made to the Kent School Class of 1953 Memorial Fund; or the Princeton University Class of ’57 Classmates Fund.
Harriet Lucille Allison, 74, died October 7 at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Princeton on July 1, 1937, she attended the Princeton School System. She attended Rider University where she was interested in using her typing skills. She worked for the YM/YWCA, the Dorothea House, Princeton University’s Firestone Library, and the Princeton Packet.
Daughter of the late Leon and Ethelyn Allison; and sister of the late Mary Ward and Leon Allison II; she is survived by her daughter, Tina Allison Allen; her son, Robert Taylor; her sisters, Ethelyn, Frances, and Marguerite; her brother, Marvin Allison; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on October 15 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah AME Church, 170 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, with Rev. Deborah Brooks officiating.
Richard “Dick” Tryon Wetherald, 75, of Hopewell, died October 9 at Chandler Hall, Newtown, Pa.
Born in Plainfield, he was a resident of Hopewell for over 43 years. He retired in 2008 from the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory/NOAA in Princeton, with over 44 years of services as a Senior Research Associate in the field of Greenhouse Warming.
He was passionate about meteorological research, astronomy, steam engines, trains, choral singing, and scientific outreach activities for young children, both locally and internationally. His commitment to enriching the lives of others was paramount throughout his lifetime.
Son of the late Joseph Stanley and Ruth Wetherald, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lucille “Ceal” E. W. Wetherald; a son, Kenneth R. Wetherald; two daughters, Barbara R. Owen and Cindy L. Shane; a brother, Stanley Wetherald; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on October 15 at Westerly Road Church, 25 Westerly Road, Princeton.

John J. Bilik Jr., of Titusville and Nantucket, Mass., born on April 9, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., to the late Madeline Genevieve Konieczny and John Joseph Bilik Sr., passed away on October 6, 2011 in Trenton after a noble battle against cancer.
He is survived by his devoted companion, Mary Jane Cooper, and his loving family: his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Anthony Pasculli of Hoboken; son and daughter-in-law Justin and Deborah Bilik of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Jack and Grace Bilik, Matteo and Brody Pasculli, and Henry and Keel Cooper; step-daughter, Sara Cooper and her husband Michael Delehanty; step-son, Albert Cooper IV and his wife Martie; three sisters, Bernadette Bilik, Patricia and her husband Jerry Miele, and Andrea and her husband Dr. Walter Hoover; his uncle Edward Bilik; his aunt Sister Fabiola; neice Jaclyn and nephews Nicholas and Aaron Adrian; and many Biliks, Grochalas, and countless friends.
Mr. Bilik received a BS degree from Duquesne University where he was on the Board of Governors at Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, attended Duquesne University School of Law, and received a master’s degree from Rider University.
Mr. Bilik taught math at Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pa.; served in the U.S. Army (Military Police) being Honorably Discharged in 1970. He was an accomplished business administrator serving for four years as the Director of Mercer Street Friends; for 15 years in various positions, including Vice President, at St. Francis Hospital; for eight years as Senior Vice President at Carrier Foundation, in Belle Mead; and for the past eight years for the State of New Jersey, most recently as Senior Fiscal Analyst in the Division of Child Behavioral Health, Department of Children and Families.
Mr. Bilik loved people of all ages and would take every opportunity to engage new acquaintances and old friends in conversation, drawing them out to speak about themselves. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Bilik will remember him for his kind and gentle ways and his sense of humor.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 13 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 343 South Broad Street, Trenton. Friends and relatives are invited to gather on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Avenue, Ewing.

Alfonza Ashby Hale, 61, of East Windsor, died October 7 at the University Medical Center at Princeton after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Coleman Falls, Va., he was a longtime New Jersey resident, working at Princeton University for 43 years. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, sports, and spending time with family.
Predeceased by his parents, Thurman A. Hale and Dora E. Spinner Hale, he is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Tanya Shereen and Nichole Victoria Bush; five grandchildren; his brothers, Jerome Hale, Roscoe Hale, Donald Hale, and Harold Hale; and his sisters, Doretha Spinner, Nellie Jackson, Althea Lee, Moshia Hale, Alice Hale, and Audrey Taylor.
Calling hours took place on October 11. Funeral services will be held at University Chapel in Princeton at 10 a.m. on October 12.
Funeral services and burial will take place at Antioch Baptist Church, Coleman Falls, Va., later this week.
