Charles Edward Peterson Jr., 77, of Lawrence Township, died September 4 at his residence.
Born in Trenton, he was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1951. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1957.
The founder of Peterson’s Nursery and Garden Market on Route 206, he was one of the first growers to pursue the natural, organic way of gardening beginning in the seventies. He promoted organic gardening by using liquid seaweed as a plant food instead of using chemical fertilizers. He wrote a gardening column, “Gardening in New Jersey,” for over ten years for the Trenton Times, and hosted a weekly gardening radio talk show on WBUD for several years.
A member of Trenton Cyrus Lodge #5 F.&A.M. of Pennington where he received his 50 year pin, he was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Central Jersey & the Crescent Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Trenton where he received his 50 year pin. A member of the Trenton Elks Lodge No. 105 and the Lawrenceville V.F.W. Post 414, he was also a member of the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church.
The son of the late Charles Edward Sr. and Elizabeth Harvey Peterson, he is survived by his wife, Linda Peterson; his daughter, Elizabeth Peterson; his son, Charles Edward Peterson III; his sister, Betty Lou Allen; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held September 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, 2688 Main Street, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Jeffrey A. Vamos, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Lawrenceville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Alexander Ayres Browne, of Princeton, died August 28.
Born November 17, 1984, he attended Lawrence High School and Mercer County Community College.
He enjoyed stand-up comedy, off-roading, sailing, and skydiving. He easily made others laugh with his quick wit.
The son of Archibald Ayres Browne and Christine Williams Browne of Princeton, he is also survived by his sisters, Emily Arcamone and Ellen Henderson; his “brother,” Joshua Warren; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carle and Joan Williams.
A celebration of life will take place at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington, on September 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. Calling hours will be nontraditional and nondenominational with no viewing.
The event will be a gathering of friends to celebrate his life. It will be casual, t-shirt and jeans required. There will be music from Alex’s iPod, photographs, and an opportunity to share memories.

William Palumbo, 82, of Princeton, died September 4 at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong resident and a member of St. Paul’s Church.
The son of the late Eugene and Rosina Palumbo, he is survived by his brother, Armando Palumbo; and his sister, Helen Palumbo Hernandez.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on September 10 at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Avenue. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Arthur Franklin Wagner, 87, died September 1 at Meadow Lakes in Hightstown, N.J.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was a longtime Princeton resident. He graduated from Princeton University where he received his B.A. with highest honors in chemistry, and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry.
During his 38-year career as a senior chemist with Merck Laboratories in Rahway, N.J., he authored or contributed to more than 50 scientific publications and reference texts, established many U.S. patents, and wrote a textbook entitled Vitamins and Coenzymes.
A Second Lieutenant with the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, he flew thirteen missions out of England before capture and imprisonment in Stalag 1, Barth Germany.
In retirement he volunteered as a tutor in the Trenton After School Program, and reader-checker for the Princeton Unit of Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.
He was married to Bonnie Louise Busch for 61 years, and is survived by his three daughters, Karen Rieser, Laurie Dalton, and Barbara Melnikov; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home in Princeton.
Margaret P. Campbell, 84, of Princeton, died August 30 at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born in Princeton, she was a lifelong resident and member of St. Paul’s Church. A graduate of St. Paul’s School and Princeton High School, she attended Katherine Gibbs School.
She was employed for many years as the bookkeeper for Cousins Wine and Spirits in Princeton.
The daughter of the late Biaggio and Mary Pietrinferno; wife of the late D. Bruce Campbell; mother of the late Robert B. Campbell; and sister of the late Alfred, Frank, James, and William Pietrinferno, Ann Ferrara, Elizabeth Catelli, and Jean Procaccino; she is survived by two sons, Bruce D. Campbell and Ronald K. Campbell; one sister, Mary Alice Karnas; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was held on September 4 at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home in Princeton.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul’s Church with burial following in Princeton Cemetery.
