Jeanette S.W. Thurber
Jeanette Scott Webster Thurber, 98, of Hightstown, died September 17 at the Meadow Lakes retirement community in Hightstown. She was a Princeton resident from 1942 to 1983 before moving to Meadow Lakes.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, she graduated from the Columbus School for Girls and Wellesley College. She also studied painting and bookbinding in Italy.
In 1933, she married Lawrence Burns Webster, who died in 1969. In 1971, she married Gerrish Thurber, the Lawrenceville School librarian. He died in 2000.
She was an active member of the Present Day Club, The Wellesley Club of Central New Jersey, and Nassau Presbyterian Church. She was also on the founding committee of the Princeton Antiques Show, a member of the Arts Advisory Committee of the New Jersey State Museum, and a trustee of the Historical Society of Princeton and the American Boychoir School.
She is survived by two daughters, Katherine W. Dwight of Tenafly and Rosalind W. Perry of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a step-son, Edward G. Thurber of Fullerton, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held this Saturday, September 24, at noon at Princeton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Historical Society of Princeton, The American Boychoir School, or Wellesley College.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home.
Memorial Service For Gilbert R. Rowan
A memorial service celebrating the life of Thomas A. Lies of Princeton, who died August 16, will be held on Friday, September 30 at 4 p.m. in the Cor Unum Center at Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, 1200 Stuart Road, Princeton.
A reception will follow the service.
