The Corner House Student Board will present Ask the Student Board: Live on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the main meeting room at the Princeton Township municipal building on Witherspoon Street. Parents of eighth graders and high school students are encouraged to attend the program.
Our goal is to inform parents about what we see every day at high school, said Student Board President Marcus Budline. In addition to the real struggles with drugs and addiction, he observed, the group would like to dispel some rumors like the one claiming that students are coerced into participating in drug deals in school bathrooms.
We want to allay some fears, particularly those of middle school parents, added Corner House Executive Director Gary J. De Blasio.
Corner House is a non-profit counseling center for adolescents and young adults It was established in 1972 as a joint agency agency of the Borough and Township.
At the April 12 event, Student Board members will present a skit about a high school get-together, followed by personal narratives and a question and answer session.
We did the skit at a Princeton High School (PHS) PTO meeting and it stirred up a lot of interest, reported Mr. Budline. There are so many decisions a kid has to make in an evening, from the minute they leave the house until they get home. PTO members, the PHS senior noted, were fascinated by the kids honesty.
