TOOLS OF THE TRADE: This hair straightening iron patented by Christine, Inc. is on display as part of the Historical Society of Princeton’s newest exhibition, “The Recession Hits Home,” which is on view until August 22. Christine Vanity Parlors was located on Spring Street in Princeton and was known statewide. Exhibition Curator Eileen Morales said that the function of one of the galleries in the exhibition is to have visitors consider the similarities and differences of jobs in the past to their iterations in the present day.

In keeping with the Historical Society of Princeton’s (HSP) summer exhibition themes which typically focus on a “human need,” according to Exhibition Curator Eileen Morales, their latest show takes a look at unemployment’s effects in the region and state. “The Recession Hits Home: Job Loss in Central New Jersey” will be on view at Bainbridge House until August 22.
