The Family Resource Network and Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey will host a day at the beach for special needs individuals and their families on Wednesday, August 25, at the Governor’s Beach house on Island Beach State Park. People with developmental disabilities such as epilepsy, autism, mental retardation, spina bifida, traumatic injury, and cerebral palsy are welcome to enjoy a day of private, relaxing fun. The N.J. State House Tour Program is recruiting volunteers for its fall training program. Guides teach visitors about the building’s art, architecture, and history, and about State government and the lawmaking process. For more information, call (609) 633-2709 or email crogers@njleg.org.

Eyes on Mercer will celebrate the cultural resources of Mercer County from October 15 through 17. This promotional campaign provides an opportunity to spotlight arts, history, and cultural organizations of Mercer County. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, September. 15. Nominations should be as specific as possible and should include name and contact information for the nominator and nominee. Youth for Understanding USA (YFUUSA) is seeking local families to host high school exchange students for the next school year. Host families provide a place to live and three meals a day, plus the encouragement, advice, and caring to help their new family member through a semester or year.
