FAMILY BUSINESS: Former Princeton University mens lacrosse star goalie Trevor Tierney makes a save in action during his career in Major League Lacrosse (MLL). Tierney, the son of Princeton mens lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney, stopped playing last year due to a concussion and is now the defensive coordinator for the MLLs Denver Outlaws. Showing that coaching is in his blood, Tierney has helped guide the Outlaws to the MLL semifinals. |
His father, Bill Tierney, is a Hall of Fame coach of the Princeton University mens lacrosse team.
One of his sisters, Courtney, is the head coach of the Pennington School girls basketball team while his other sister, Brianne, is an assistant coach for the Monmouth University womens lacrosse team.
So when Trevor Tierney decided to end his playing career after suffering a concussion last summer while playing for the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the star goalies next step in the game was a no-brainer.
Peter Trombino played a major role in helping the Princeton University mens lacrosse team make the NCAA Final Four during his freshman season in 2004.
In the NCAA quarterfinal that spring, Trombino scored one of the clutch goals in program history, burying a feed from Ryan Boyle in overtime to give the Tigers a 9-8 win over Maryland.
For Judson Wallace, the three-year plan has become the five-year plan.
Despite enduring a disappointing senior season for the Princeton University mens basketball team in 2004-05, Wallace immediately set his sights on playing in the NBA by 2008.
Many collegiate athletes use the summer months to get away from competition.
While some go to the beach to soak up the sun, others get their rays on the field, honing their skills in summer leagues.
With an eye on the upcoming collegiate season and beyond, Jack Murphy, a rising junior catcher for the Princeton University baseball team, worked to refine his game this summer in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) as a member of the Newport (R.I.) Gulls.
It was a recruiting pitch that Jackie Gaudioso-Radvany couldnt resist.
At the end of her official visit to the University of North Carolina, the Stuart Country Day School field hockey star was ushered into a darkened room to watch a film.
The movie featured such North Carolina athletic luminaries as Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm beseeching her to attend the school.
