His father, Bill Tierney, is a Hall of Fame coach of the Princeton University men’s lacrosse team.

One of his sisters, Courtney, is the head coach of the Pennington School girls’ basketball team while his other sister, Brianne, is an assistant coach for the Monmouth University women’s lacrosse team.

So when Trevor Tierney decided to end his playing career after suffering a concussion last summer while playing for the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the star goalie’s next step in the game was a no-brainer.

Peter Trombino played a major role in helping the Princeton University men’s lacrosse team make the NCAA Final Four during his freshman season in 2004.

In the NCAA quarterfinal that spring, Trombino scored one of the clutch goals in program history, burying a feed from Ryan Boyle in overtime to give the Tigers a 9-8 win over Maryland.

At the end of her official visit to the University of North Carolina, the Stuart Country Day School field hockey star was ushered into a darkened room to watch a film.

The movie featured such North Carolina athletic luminaries as Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm beseeching her to attend the school.
