FreeB Advertising Set for September; No Cost to Taxpayers, Thanks to PU

To the Editor:

I am writing in response to Peter T. Johnson’s August 13 letter in Town Topics regarding the FreeB. Advertising for the FreeB was a topic of discussion at the Borough Council meeting on August 12. Some members of Council questioned why we were not advertising this free shuttle service more vigorously now. After much discussion it was agreed that the current plan to seriously promote the FreeB beginning in early September made the most sense. There is a very limited advertising budget and it was felt that we would get the most “bang for our buck” if we waited until school reconvened in September. I plan to be at the Dinky Station handing out FreeB advertising flyers myself come September.

Further, to Mr. Johnson’s comments about how much this is costing taxpayers — at the moment nothing. Thanks to a generous grant from Princeton University support is in place for the FreeB until the end of this year and after that NJ Transit will support this shuttle through 2009.

Currently the FreeB’s schedule is linked to the early morning and late afternoon/evening Dinky schedule which makes it most convenient for commuters. It is hoped that ridership will grow sufficiently so that we will not only be able to expand the hours of the service, but the route as well.

I have used the FreeB myself and have found it to be a very convenient way to get around the center of town. I would encourage everyone in town to think about how they might use it and hop on board. It is both a wonderful service and a good idea. Let’s make the FreeB grow!

University Medical Center at Princeton Expresses Appreciation to Donors in Recent Blood Drive

To the Editor:

On behalf of the patients who benefit from blood trans-fusions at the University Medical Center at Princeton, I am pleased to extend a sincere appreciation to all the blood donors for donating at the August 12 Arlington Capital Mortgage and University Medical Center at Princeton Blood Drive. The University Medical Center depends on the generosity of blood donors whose “Gift of Life” truly make a difference in the lives of the patients we serve in Princeton and the surrounding communities of Princeton.

The need for blood transfusion support to our patients is a never-ending challenge. Thank you for your continued support of the Blood Donor Program at the University Medical Center at Princeton. A “special” thank you to all the Arlington Capital Mortgage Blood Donor Captains. We can all be proud of this achievement. Because of your commitment many lives are being saved daily. Thank you again for your help and support of the Blood Donor Program at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
