ROUGH KNIGHT: Princeton University mens basketball sophomore star Lincoln Gunn finds the going tough last Saturday as he looks for room in Princetons 54-50 loss at Rutgers. Gunn starred in the defeat to the Scarlet Knights, producing the first double-double of his career with a team-high 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. |
Lincoln Gunn had just produced one of the best all-around games in his career with the Princeton University mens basketball team but he wasnt happy.
The 63, 180-pound sophomore guard scored 13 points, snared a career-high 10 rebounds, and had three assists but his effort went for naught as the Tigers fell 54-50 to Rutgers last Saturday before a crowd of 4,527 at the Louis Brown Athletic Center.
Showing attention to detail at both ends of the ice, the Princeton University mens hockey team roared out of the gate this season with a 3-0 start.
In winning the games at Yale, Cornell, and Colgate, the Tigers outscored their foes by a combined 11-4 and seemed poised to have a big November.
But Princetons focus wavered and the team went on to drop five of its next six contests, including four straight home contests.
The group of seniors that graced the ice for the Princeton High boys hockey team last winter wont be soon forgotten.
The players in the PHS Class of 2007 made three trips to the Final 16 of the state tournament, they won a Mercer County Tournament title (MCT) and took second in another MCT, and they advanced to the finals of the Titans Cup.
Tony Bowman admits that his Stuart Country Day School basketball team lacks height.
But Bowman doesnt believe that means it will be a tall order for his team to improve on the 11-12 record it posted last winter.
Noni Ammidon was an offensive mainstay in her first two seasons with the Princeton Day School girls hockey team.
But last winter in her junior season, Ammidon was shifted to defense to shore up that unit for the Panthers.
