The state Assemblyman who introduced Congo’s Law, the bill that helps protect dog owners in incidents where a dog is defending its owner, paid a visit last Tuesday to the home of the bill’s namesake, a 2-year-old German Shepherd belonging to Guy and Elizabeth James of Princeton Township. Assemblyman Neil Cohen, the Union Township Democrat who introduced the bill, stopped by the James’s Township residence just two days prior to an Assembly committee voting in favor of the bill. Congo was deemed vicious by a Township municipal judge, and ordered to be destroyed following a June attack against James landscaper Giovanni Rivera, the 42-year-old Trenton man who sustained 96 bites from the dog. The case is currently under appeal in Superior Court. (MH)
The Nassau Inn’s proposed six-floor expansion on Hulfish Street was slated to be examined informally by the Regional Planning Board of Princeton during a concept review last Thursday, as reported in Town Topics, but the review was pulled by the board due to a attorney scheduling conflict. The Planning Board is now slated to review the expansion plan tomorrow, December 13, at 7:30 p.m., at Township Hall. (MH)
