In a February 3 update, the Princeton Recreation Department announced that, as a result of significant melting from recent warm weather and the continued presence of snow, ice skating on Lake Carnegie, the Community Park North Pond, and Smoyer Park Pond is unsafe until further notice. The Department encourages everyone to stay off ice surfaces.

U.S. Navy Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will deliver a major policy address titled “Global Trends and National Security” at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 5, in McCosh 10 on the Princeton University campus. Mr. Mullen serves as the principal military adviser to the president, the secretary of defense, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council. The event is co-sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, the Princeton Project on National Security, and the University’s U.S. Army ROTC Program.

A special meeting of the Princeton Environmental Commission to discuss Robert Hillier’s concept plan for the Lowe property on Bunn Drive will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Complex, Meeting Room B.

Princeton Township Committee will hold its regular bi-weekly meeting on Monday, February 7, at 7 p.m. in Township Hall.

The Princeton Rotary Club, McCaffrey’s Supermarkets, and area schools and congregations are teaming up to help fill the grocery shelves of The Crisis Ministry with the “Fifth Annual Valentines for Food.” For details see www.thecrisisministry.org/.
