A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues
I dont think that the caucus is very important because there were not too many people involved. I believe that Obama will be the Democratic nominee. As for the Republicans, that race is such a mess that I just dont have any idea.
Michael Tomalin, right, with Chief Dan Tomalin of the Princeton Fire Department |
It is important as a demonstration that people think for themselves and make decisions not based on, for example, religion and race. The candidates will be Obama for the Democrats and John McCain for the Republicans.
Jim Floyd, Princeton |
I dont think that the Iowa caucuses are that important, but the next three primaries are, starting with New Hampshire. As for the ultimate candidates, I believe that they will be Clinton and McCain.
Robert Bruschi, Princeton Borough administrator |
Its a very important result in the short-term, but not in the long-term. As far as the nominees, I think that on the Republican side it will be McCain, but the Democratic side is too close to call.
Judge Joseph Irenas, Princeton |
I think the Iowa Caucus results are important this week but after that, Im not sure it makes much difference. As for the nominees, I think that the Democrats are blessed with so many great candidates and it will be one of the top three right now. For the Republicans, this might be weird but if Michael Bloomberg came out as Republican he might have a little more support. But for now, I dont think the nominee will be Mike Huckabee. If Republicans are wise, it will be John McCain.
Princeton Township Mayor Phyllis Marchand |
I think that the Iowa results are very important. They confirm that the United States is ready to accept a more diversified presidential slate. For the nominees, I think that it will be Huckabee for the Republicans and Obama for the Democrats.
