Township residents are invited to attend an informal meeting to discuss the Township’s leaf management program on Monday, February 1, at 7 p.m., in the Community Room, 400 Witherspoon Street, Princeton Township Municipal Building. The meeting is intended to be an open and free exchange of ideas and views concerning leaf collection, and no action will be taken.

Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes, in collaboration with the Mercer County Library System and The Public Education Committee of the Mercer County Bar Association, have announced the 2010 schedule for Lawyers C.A.R.E., an organization dedicated to counseling, providing assistance, identifying resources, and educating the general public about their legal rights. The free sessions will be on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at various locations throughout Mercer County, and participants will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents will be allowed a free 15-minute consultation with an attorney on such topics as Family Law, Real Estate, Landlord and Tenant Law, Personal Injury, Criminal and Municipal Court Law as well as Wills and Estates, Bankruptcy, and Immigration.

Representatives of the Mercer Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns will also be available to answer questions and to distribute brochures and information on a variety of law-related topics. The Mercer County Commission on Abused, Neglected and Missing Children and the Cherish the Children Foundation seek nominations to honor volunteers “who have dedicated their efforts toward making a difference in the lives of children” at their April 28 awards banquet. Nominations are being sought in three categories: administrative (volunteer such as a board or advisory member who actively participates in the administration of an agency that works with children); program (a volunteer who works directly with agency clients); and organization (a civic, corporate or other organization that has donated services, organized or sponsored an event to benefit children, or otherwise demonstrated support for the nominating agency). The Commission and Foundation also will honor a professional who works on behalf of children in Mercer County, and Mercer County high school students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service within the County. To be eligible for the award, the student must be attending high school, live in Mercer County, and have performed his or her community service in Mercer County for a minimum of a year.
