A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues
I think that the University should contribute for the services that they use from the town. I think that what comparable institutions and other college towns pay should be used as a barometer. They should not necessarily pay the same taxes as the residents. The University is a charitable organization; they have a public initiative that they serve and that should count as well. Bonnie: Princeton supplies the police department and other shared services to the University. Therefore, they should pay the same property taxes. Mark and Bonnie Scheibner, Princeton |
I think that Princeton University should pay the same property tax. If the University wants to be a part of the community, they should give to the community just as everyone else does. We are all the same people and the same community and are all responsible. Lindsay Perez, Princeton |

No, they should not be paying the same taxes. I feel that Princeton is doing all right and should not tax the University any more. The cost of education is already rising. I am concerned about students well being and having maximized debts in the future. They would be paying more in tuition and will end up having higher student loans. Keep the tuition as low as possible. Sarah Lane, Princeton Seminary |
