The Wellness Community of Central New Jersey (TWC-CNJ) in collaboration with Curémonos and the Princeton YWCA’s Breast Cancer Resource Center will host a Day of Wellness for Latina Women with cancer on Saturday, June 26, starting at 9 a.m. at the YWCA Princeton. This free event will teach Latina women ways to help reduce stress and promote good health. Activities will include learning how to cook healthy after a cancer diagnosis without having to sacrifice favorite Latin foods; learning techniques to promote relaxation and reduce stress through gentle stretching and breathing; and learning movements to tone the body and promote energy with Latin-flavored music. All sessions will be conducted in Spanish. Registration is required by calling (908) 658-5400.

The Wellness Community of Central New Jersey is an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, an international non-profit organization dedicated to providing free support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones. Curémonos’s mission is to create a compassionate, multidisciplinary and culturally competent network of resources to provide education, advocacy, and support to medically underserved women with breast health concerns or a breast cancer diagnosis. The YWCA Princeton Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) is dedicated to providing information and support to women and families affected by breast cancer, and increasing awareness of the disease in the community. Programs and services are provided free of charge.

A docent-led tour of Princeton Cemetery will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 19. Leaving from the main gate at the end of Greenview Avenue, the tour will include the graves, and stories, of Civil War generals, adventurers, famous scientists, religious leaders, Presidents of the University, the Seminary, and the United States, and various people of local interest. Nicknamed “the Westminster Abbey of the United States,” the cemetery is the resting place of important figures in the American Revolution and is known for a number of urban legends and curious anomalies. The free tour will be led by Cemetery tour guide Reid Byers.

The Princeton Public Library’s Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room.

The Sixth Annual Mercer County Freedom Festival will be held in conjunction with radio station 94.5 WPST from 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, at Mercer County Park in West Windsor; it is the earliest Fourth of July celebration in the area.
