Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“What do you think the community could be doing to improve the situation of immigrants?”
(Asked at Sunday’s Community Dialogue on Immigration.)

“Immigrants are here to stay. They do a lot of good work. They are not going anywhere. They should document them and give them some path to citizenship.”

Adam Bierman, Princeton

“To be more educated about the issue at an individual level. And to contact our legislators at the federal level as well as state and local levels to get involved in The Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund.”

Maria Juega, Princeton

“We have already taken a great step by introducing the new community ID cards. Further, tonight’s program showed that we need a dialogue that really substantiates conflicting points about the issue.”

David Cohen, Princeton

“At a local level there needs to be more outreach through forums (like this evening) to publicize and discuss. Also, through social media such as “YouTube.” There needs to be more marketing to improve the situation of immigrants.”

Casey Waltz, Montgomery Twp.

“The ID cards are important to prove address, date of birth and to correct mistakes that may occur in translation. It’s important for the ID to be accepted at the local clinics, the library, and schools to verify information.”

Sandra Bierman, Princeton

“One step would be to have members of the community get the card for themselves and see what it means and says. By doing that they’ll see that it enables them to easily identify themselves without having the usual forms of ID, such as a driver’s license, etc.”

George Cody, Princeton
