Weddings
Devorah Isaac and Marco Bitran
Isaac-Bitran. Devorah Isaac, daughter of Sherry Rosen and Ephraim Isaac, both of Princeton, to Marco Bitran, son of Laura and Gabriel Bitran of Chestnut Hill, Mass. Rabbi Phil Lieberman officiated at the July 17 ceremony, held at Fernbrook in Chesterfield Township.
Born in Jerusalem, the bride attended Littlebrook and John Witherspoon Schools and graduated from Princeton High School in 1992. She received a B.S. from Georgetown University and studied at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem before obtaining an M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Tufts University. She is currently program manager of the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at the Harvard School of Public Health in Cambridge, Mass.
The bride's father is Director of the Institute of Semitic Studies in Princeton and board chair of the Horn of Africa Peace & Development Committee. Her mother, a former lecturer at Rutgers University, is director of Prospect Research at The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.
The groom, born in Brazil and reared in Boston, received a B.S. in electrical engineering and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He also studied electrical engineering at Stanford University. He is currently Global Industry Analyst at Wellington Management Company L.L.P. in Boston.
The groom's father is a professor of management at the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. His mother is on the staff of the Office of Governmental & Community Affairs at Boston College.
Although the pair met through mutual friends, their relationship fast-forwarded when Ms. Isaac was rushed to a Boston hospital with acute appendicitis. Mr. Bitran stood vigil in the waiting room and fed her his mother's homemade soup throughout her hospital stay. When she was discharged he took her home so that he could personally manage her post-operative care. Their partnership has continued to thrive even in the absence of additional medical crises.
