The Democratic candidates running for the two available seats on Borough Council and Township Committee, respectively, pulled ahead of their Republican counterparts on Tuesday.
The Princeton Property Fair Tax Committee (PPFT) met last week to bring members of the community up to date on their efforts to address what are seen by many as inequities in the recent revaluation process.
“This could open up a floodgate across the state and be a devastating blow to a lot of districts,” said Board of Education member Dan Haughton at last week’s meeting, reporting on an upcoming bill before the state legislature that would enable entities other than the State Department of Education to approve new charter schools. The Board’s newly-created Legislative Committee, he said, is working on “educating” state level officials about this and other local school district concerns.
The public meeting held at John Witherspoon Middle School last week was the first major interaction between local residents, members of the Consolidation and Joint Services Study Commission, and the consultants from the Center for Governmental Research (CGR) hired to conduct the study.
