The genuine affection area residents feel for the Community Park Pool, and their consequent reluctance to see changes made in the complex, were clearly in evidence at last Saturday’s Princeton Recreation Department’s special free-swim/pool-renovations discussion.

Library Board OKs Budget; Looks Forward to Fall Events

At its meeting last Thursday, the Princeton Public Library Board of Trustees approved a budget for 2008 totaling $4,922,237. Library Director Leslie Burger described the budget as “exactly what we asked for,” and thanked the Borough and the Township for their respective contributions. Last year’s total budget was $4,550,390.

Jitney Seen as Opportunity to Fill Borough Transit Gaps

Borough Council member David Goldfarb elaborated upon the goals of the FreeB jitney shuttle service at the Council meeting last Tuesday. “The first is to get people out of their cars, and the second is to identify a long-standing unmet transportation need and get people where they want to go,” he said.

Standing inside the “treehouse,” the aptly-named second-floor reading room inside the Peter B. Lewis Library, students have a 360-degree, unimpeded view of the outside world. Nestled among the nearby branches, the reading area is part of the new science library designed by architect Frank Gehry.

Back-to-School Block Party Delights Young and Old Alike

Hulfish Street was closed last Friday evening, not for construction, but rather for a back-to-school celebration hosted by the toy store jaZams, which recently moved from Hulfish to its new location along Palmer Square East.
