After a lengthy presentation and discussion at its Monday evening meeting, Township Committee approved five “action steps” that will attempt to ameliorate the significant flooding problems that have recently occurred in the area of Harry’s Brook and its branches.
With four bond ordinances having to do with capital budgets introduced last Tuesday, Borough Council debated various plans, like the Harrison Street Park rehabilitation, and the renovation of the Council Room, setting aside about $1.63 million for Borough capital projects for 2009.
With a name change, the Princeton Merchants Association (PMA), formerly the Borough Merchants for Princeton, has expanded its scope, goals, and structure. As they kicked off their inaugural meeting under the newly-elected leadership on Tuesday morning at the Nassau Inn, the room was packed with local business owners and employees, as well as elected officials, administrators, and Princeton University staff.
Borough Council passed a resolution at last week’s meeting giving approval for three more Princeton University employees to become associate members of the Princeton Fire Department.

Now’s a good time to visit the James A. Michener Art Museum. A terrific exhibit that is easily worth the drive to Doylestown, Pa., “Painting the People: Images of American Life from the Maimon Collection,” will be on view through October 18. As if that weren’t enough, the museum has transformed itself into the curatorial equivalent of a chart-topping anthology (you could call it The Michener’s Greatest Hits) with ”An Evolving Legacy: Twenty Years of Collecting,” which celebrates two decades of excellence by showing off the crown jewels of the collection.
It’s brand new and state-of-the-art. It’s 65,000 square feet of gleaming showroom, customer lounge, and reception area — complete with refreshments and internet access — and a spacious, immaculately clean service center.
