Doris L. Carroll, 88, of Avon-by-the-Sea, formerly of Princeton, died April 16. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Herman Berg Campbell and his wife, Mae Lee Campbell.
She was retired from Princeton University where she served as Manager of Undergraduate Housing and later as Manager of Staff and Faculty Housing.
She was a lifetime member of the Griggstown Reformed Church and a volunteer for several organizations through the years, including her church, the Griggstown Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary, the Griggstown Historical Society, and the Belmar Woman’s Club, which she served as a member of its board of directors. An avid bridge player, she also loved to cook and entertain.
Predeceased by her husband, Arthur R. Carroll, she is survived by her two sons, Arthur Carroll of Vail, Colo. and John Carroll of Lemoyne, Pa.; a sister, Olive Hoagland; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A viewing will be held this Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m. at the Griggstown Reformed Church, 1065 Canal Road, Princeton, followed by a funeral service at the church at 2 p.m., with a reception in the Church Hall following interment at 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent either to the Griggstown Reformed Church at the address above, or to the Belmar Woman’s Club Scholarship Fund, c/o Rose Cella, 31 Tremont Drive, Neptune, N.J. 07753.

David Kenneth Groo, 68, of Sterling, Va., formerly of Princeton, died suddenly March 29.
Born in Cornwall, N.Y., he was raised in Princeton, graduating from Princeton High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., and attended American University and George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
His primary career field was housing and community development. In 1995 he formed Partners in Housing, a non-profit corporation offering home ownership counseling and real estate services for low and moderate income buyers in Northern Virginia. He was especially dedicated to helping first-time buyers.
Son of the late Kenneth B. and Mildred L. (Gardner) Groo, and father of the late Laura Beth Groo, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda; two daughters, Diana Thornburgh of Purcellville, Va. and Joanna Smith of Salem, Va.; a brother, Robert of League City, Texas; a sister, Verna Groo of Princeton; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral service and burial took place in Herndon, Va.
Hilja Treumut, 94, of Princeton, died April 16.
Born in Estonia, she emigrated from her homeland after World War II.
An active member of Nassau Presbyterian Church, she was a substitute teacher in the Montgomery and West Windsor-Plainsboro School districts.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vilja and Gregory Casey; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.
Private graveside services are under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home.

Jules Louis Dussourd, 85, died on April 3, 2010 at his home in Stonebridge at Montgomery in Skillman, New Jersey. Born in Woodside, New York, he was transplanted as an infant to the Zurich area of Switzerland and then to France, where he graduated from the Lycee Champolion in Grenoble. During World War II, after the Allied invasion of North Africa and subsequent Nazi occupation of Vichy France, he escaped across the Pyrenees to Spain and back to the U.S. in 1943. There he graduated in mechanical engineering from the City College of New York in 1947. He then taught mechanical engineering at City College while working on a Master’s degree from Columbia University, which he completed in 1949.
Jules’ first industrial job took him to Fort Worth, Texas, where he worked as a senior propulsion engineer for Convair and where he met Eugenia Chappell, whom he married in 1953 after an idyllic romance. After completing his Sc.D. at MIT in 1954, he joined AiResearch in Los Angeles and Phoenix. There he designed and developed the compressor for the company’s first main propulsion engine for helicopters and small aircraft. In 1963, he moved to Princeton, New Jersey to become assistant director and department head of Ingersoll Rand Research, Inc., a position he held until 1986, when he founded Jules L. Dussourd and Associates to consult with aerospace and industrial companies.
Jules was a lifetime member and elder of Nassau Presbyterian Church, where he was an avid participant and organizer of adult education classes aimed at bridging the chasm between science and theology. Jules’ other interests included tennis, bridge and camping.
Jules is survived by his beloved wife Eugenia, his son David and daughter-in-law Joanne of Conway, Arkansas, his daughter Ellen of Buffalo, New York and his grandson Christopher, an undergraduate at Lehigh University. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, joy in travel and exploration, skill at tinkering and invention, delightful humor and imagination, and love of engineering, history and science.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 11, 2010 at Nassau Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice.
