The junior attackman matched his career single-game high in points in the victory over the Big Green, tallying seven points on five goals and two assists. McBride was later named the Ivy League Player of the Week for his performance against Dartmouth and his three-goal effort in a 10-8 win over Rutgers on April 13. |
Chris Bates enjoyed a superb career with the Dartmouth College men’s lacrosse team.
A 1990 Dartmouth alum, Bates was an All-Ivy League attackman during his playing days with the Big Green.
But as the first-year head coach of the Princeton men’s lacrosse team, Bates felt little nostalgia for the old alma mater when Dartmouth visited the Class of 1952 Stadium last Saturday for a clash with the Tigers.
Barb Previ is not one to shy away from a challenge.
For the last two years, the Princeton University sophomore has tackled the tough assignment of playing two sports at the college level, competing for the Tiger women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse teams.
The Medford, N.J. native has faced an additional hurdle as she is partially deaf and has to use a hearing aid on and off the field.
But for someone with the ability and determination to play two sports, Previ isn’t about to be slowed by her condition.
Over the previous three springs, Deanna Boehm carried the workload as the Princeton High softball team struggled mightily.
As the team’s starting pitcher and a top hitter, Boehm has been under the gun with the Little Tigers having lost more than 80 percent of their games.
Coming into the 2010 season, senior co-captain Boehm sensed a different work ethic around the team.
In the spring of 2008, the Princeton High boys’ golf team made history as a triumvirate of senior stars led the program to its second straight Group III state championship.
While only current junior star Fraser Graham remains from that special team, its achievements are inspiring this year’s squad.
“They do talk about those teams,” said longtime PHS head coach Sheryl Severance. “Fraser was part of it and they aspire to that. They want to be good like that.”
After suffering a rare loss to Princeton Day School last spring, Aly Klemmer and her teammates on the Hun School softball team were determined to prevent a repeat performance when the clubs renewed their rivalry last Wednesday.
“This couldn’t happen again, absolutely not,” said Klemmer. “We know we are a better team than we put out last year. We know we can produce and that was not producing.”
In the 2010 meeting, Hun produced early and often, jumping out to a 2-0 first inning lead on the way to a 7-0 triumph.
