THE FACE OF THE YWCA: The YWCA Princeton's new strategic plan indicates that Bramwell House, seen here from Bayard Lane, will play a major factor in the future of the organization's programming, as well as its presence in Princeton. The YWCA has taken a relative back seat so far in the rezoning talks of land occupied by its immediate neighbors, Princeton HealthCare System and Princeton University, but CEO Judy Hutton said her organization is ready to participate in any redevelopment discussion, emphasizing that the YWCA is "here in Princeton to stay." |
When Princeton HealthCare System announced in late 2005 that it would be relocating its University Medical Center at Princeton to a site in Plainsboro, and that Princeton University was the contract purchaser for its Merwick Rehab Center on Bayard Lane, YWCA Princeton and the Princeton Family YMCA knew they had to act fast.
After an arduous cleaning process handled by a state contractor, and a rigorous fund-raising effort by local organizers to showcase a Princeton landmark, the Princeton Battle Monument at Borough Hall is finally ready to be displayed, officially, to the public, neatly placing an exclamation point on what was generally considered to be a bright idea from the outset.
